PD-Nipah Genesig Real-time PCR Kit (Research use only)

genesig® Advanced qPCR detection kit targets the nucleocapsid protein (N) gene from Nipah
virus (NiV). NiV is an RNA virus belonging to the Henipavirus genus. Although fruit bats serve as
the natural reservoir of the virus, NiV has also been shown to infect domestic animals such as pigs.
The virus can spread to humans through close contact with infected animals or individuals, or by
consuming contaminated food. While human infection may be asymptomatic or cause only mild
symptoms, NiV can also lead to severe disease, including acute respiratory illness and encephalitis,
and is associated with a high mortality rate.
Specificity
This kit is designed for the in vitro quantification of Nipah virus genomes and to have a broad
detection profile. Specifically, the primers will detect over 95% of sequences available on the NCBI
database at the time of last review.
